Vietnam’s time-of-use tariff gives commercial and industrial users a reason to shift electricity use. Yet a battery alone does not create savings. Results depend on charge timing, discharge timing, reserve settings, and evening load.
A smart energy management system, or EMS, turns these decisions into a daily schedule. For factories, hotels, cold stores, and mixed-use buildings, the aim is to cut expensive grid purchases without losing backup protection.

Why Do Vietnam’s Time-of-Use Tariffs Matter?
Vietnam’s revised time bands place peak hours from 17:30 to 22:30, Monday through Saturday. Off-peak hours run from 00:00 to 06:00 every day. Evening consumption therefore matters when you assess storage value.
The Price Spread Can Be Large
Using the official retail tariff table effective from May 2025, this comparison models a hotel under the business tariff at 6kV to below 22kV, a small or medium factory under the manufacturing tariff at 6kV to below 22kV, and a supermarket under the business tariff below 6kV. Their off-peak and peak rates are shown below.
| Customer Type | Off-Peak Rate | Peak Rate | Gross Spread |
| Hotel (Business, 6kV to Below 22kV) | VND 1,829/kWh | VND 5,202/kWh | VND 3,373/kWh |
| Small or Medium Factory (Manufacturing, 6kV to Below 22kV) | VND 1,234/kWh | VND 3,508/kWh | VND 2,274/kWh |
| Supermarket (Business, Below 6kV) | VND 1,918/kWh | VND 5,422/kWh | VND 3,504/kWh |

Applied assumptions: hotel—business tariff, 6kV to below 22kV; small or medium factory—manufacturing tariff, 6kV to below 22kV; supermarket—business tariff, below 6kV. Actual billing depends on the contracted tariff category and supply voltage.
The spread is attractive, but the bill does not fall automatically. A factory that closes at 17:00 may have little peak-window load. A hotel, cold store, or food plant may have a much better match.
A Fixed Timer Is Often Too Crude
A timer follows the clock even when conditions change. It may charge before solar rises or discharge too early. Smart EMS checks tariff periods, demand, solar output, battery state of charge, and operating priorities before sending commands.
How Does Smart EMS Create a Repeatable Saving Cycle?
EPOTR combines battery products, power electronics, and smart energy control for residential and C&I projects. For a Vietnam site, the EMS should turn the tariff into clear operating rules, not a loose promise about lower bills.
A Practical Daily Control Sequence
A workable schedule may follow five steps:
- Charge during the 00:00–06:00 off-peak period.
- Keep room in the battery for midday rooftop solar.
- Supply local loads from solar before wasting surplus output.
- Discharge from 17:30 while respecting the site’s power limit.
- Hold reserve energy for refrigeration, servers, pumps, or outages.
The EMS in the EP2 ALL IN EINEM Hybrid-Energiespeichersystem supports time-of-use control, self-consumption, demand response, microgrid control, and remote operation through a 10-inch touch panel.

What Could One Daily Cycle Be Worth?
Take a cautious example. A site shifts 180kWh from off-peak to peak on 26 operating days per month. That requires an average discharge of 36kW across the five-hour peak window, within EP2’s 50kW rated power.
| Customer Type | Gross Monthly Tariff Value |
| Hotel (Business, 6kV to Below 22kV) | About VND 15.79 Million |
| Small or Medium Factory (Manufacturing, 6kV to Below 22kV) | About VND 10.64 Million |
| Supermarket (Business, Below 6kV) | About VND 16.40 Million |
Calculation basis: 180kWh/day × 26 operating days × gross tariff spread. Tariff source: https://en.evn.com.vn/d6/news/RETAIL-ELECTRICITY-TARIFF-9-28-252.aspx. The figures are illustrative gross monthly tariff values before system losses and battery-related costs.
These figures come before conversion losses, battery wear, taxes, maintenance, and reserve requirements. A bankable estimate should use interval meter data, not one monthly total. A restaurant kitchen at 19:00 has a very different load curve from a daytime garment workshop.
Why Does EP2 Fit Mid-Sized Commercial Loads?
A useful C&I system needs enough energy for the target tariff window and enough power to follow the load. Too much capacity raises capital cost. Too little power leaves expensive peaks on the meter.
Power and Capacity Match the Evening Window
EP2 offers 209kWh and 241.15kWh cabinet options with 50kW rated AC power and 55kVA maximum apparent power. The inverter accepts up to 100kWp of PV, supports on-grid and off-grid output, and can connect to a diesel generator.
Its LFP cabinets use 314Ah cells, with 8,000 cycles listed under the stated test conditions. Battery efficiency is 95%, while peak inverter efficiency reaches 98%.
This size suits sites with a steady 30–50kW evening load, including small hotels, workshops with second shifts, and cold-chain facilities. A load study still comes first.
Protection and Site Conditions Need Equal Attention
The battery cabinet is IP54, while the inverter is IP66. The cabinet works from -20°C to 60°C, uses a 3kW air conditioner, includes aerogel fire extinguishing, and offers C3 anti-corrosion protection with an optional C5 upgrade.
For humid or coastal Vietnam, check drainage, shade, salt exposure, flood level, ventilation clearance, and service access. Outdoor ratings help, but weak civil work still creates maintenance trouble.
When Is a Modular Battery or Off-Grid System Better?
Not every buyer needs a 209kWh cabinet. EPOTR’s energy solutions cover several sizes because a small shop, island guesthouse, and cold store have different budgets and floor-space limits.
Modulare Batterie für kleinere Händler
The newer Modular Battery option has a lower entry cost and needs less floor area. Smaller stores, restaurants, clinics, and workshops can start near their current load, then add capacity as operating hours grow. This reduces the risk of buying unused capacity.
Indoor Off-Grid Systems for Weak-Grid Areas
EPOTR’s off-grid inverters are IP20 indoor, wall-mounted products. Paired with battery packs and PV, they can form an independent solar-storage microgrid for remote Vietnamese sites and island-heavy Southeast Asian markets.
EPOTR battery packs are designed to work with more than 90% of mainstream hybrid inverter platforms. This compatibility gives EPC contractors more freedom when replacing an inverter, expanding an existing system, or sourcing parts locally.
Other markets offer useful lessons. Internal studies report diesel electricity at three to five times normal grid rates in weak-grid African projects, while European buyers may value rapid response and grid services. Vietnam often needs a mix of tariff savings, solar self-use, and outage reserve.
What Should You Check Before Ordering?
Die EPOTR company profile covers battery manufacturing, power electronics, software, IoT services, and system integration. Still, a sound proposal needs site data. Specifications alone cannot size the project.
Ask for These Seven Inputs
- At least 30 days of 15-minute load data
- Voltage level and tariff customer category
- Load remaining from 17:30 to 22:30
- Rooftop PV size and hourly output
- Backup loads and required reserve duration
- Floor area, heat, humidity, salt, and flood conditions
- Communication protocol and remote access policy
The proposal should show daily cycles, usable energy, loss factors, reserve level, and projected state of charge. Savings should be given as a range. For a site review, send meter data and the single-line diagram through the EPOTR contact page.
FAQ (häufig gestellte Fragen)
Q1: Can EMS Guarantee the Same Savings Every Month?
A: No. EPOTR EMS follows tariff and operating rules, but results depend on load, solar output, battery availability, tariff changes, and reserve settings.
Q2: Is the 209kWh Model Always Better for a 50kW Load?
A: No. EPOTR matches capacity to peak-hour use, backup time, and solar surplus. The 241.15kWh version provides more duration or reserve.
Q3: Can EP2 Work with Rooftop Solar and a Generator?
A: Yes. EPOTR EP2 accepts PV input and generator input, so the EMS can coordinate grid, solar, battery, and generator use.
Q4: Why Not Discharge at Full Power for the Whole Peak Period?
A: A 50kW discharge for five hours needs more usable energy than either cabinet provides. EPOTR EMS can cap power, follow load, and keep reserve energy.
Q5: Is an Outdoor Cabinet Suitable for Every Vietnam Site?
A: No. EPOTR provides rated protection, cooling, and anti-corrosion options, but the site still needs proper foundations, drainage, shade, clearances, and local electrical compliance.
